Security forces in Zawiya, Libya, launched a large-scale operation following armed clashes in the city, particularly around the oil complex and refinery. The clashes involved rival armed groups and led to panic among residents. The National Oil Corporation halted refinery operations as a precaution due to shelling in operational areas. Zawiya is a strategic city for Libya's oil sector, which has seen a recovery in production levels despite ongoing political instability since 2011.
