New research indicates that lowering bad cholesterol (LDL) levels may significantly reduce the risk of dementia and Alzheimer's disease. A study involving nearly 109,000 participants found that lower LDL levels correlated with a 26% reduction in dementia risk and a 28% reduction in Alzheimer's risk. Statins, which help lower cholesterol, provided additional protective effects. The findings suggest managing cholesterol could be a viable strategy to prevent dementia, although more research is needed to establish a direct causal link. Teljes cikk (Euronews.com)
