The New Housing Trend Report 2024 by RE/MAX Europe reveals that over 10% of Europeans have cut back on food and essentials to afford housing, with costs rising by 54% in the past year. 37% are coping but find money tight, while 19% struggle to make ends meet. Households spend an average of 38% of their income on housing, with Slovenia and Portugal being the highest. Many are cutting back on expenses, with 80% reducing spending, and 15% resorting to borrowing. Nearly half anticipate further cost increases.
