Marianna D. Birnbaum, a prominent Hungarian-American literary and cultural historian, passed away at the age of 91. Born in Budapest in 1934, she survived the Holocaust and later emigrated to the United States after the 1956 revolution. She had a significant academic career, focusing on European cultural history and modern Hungarian-Jewish literature. Birnbaum published numerous works and maintained a close relationship with Hungarian literature, particularly with Péter Esterházy. In her later years, she sought new forms of storytelling, culminating in works like 'Emlékalbum 1944-ből'.
