The European Commission has initiated infringement actions against 17 EU member states for failing to implement a directive aimed at achieving gender balance on corporate boards. MEPs from the women's rights committee have welcomed this move but emphasize the need for further action, including discouraging involuntary part-time work and enhancing parenting support services. The directive mandates that by June 2026, 40% of non-executive directors and 33% of all directors in large-listed companies must be from the under-represented gender. Delays in implementation have been noted in several member states, with some only partially transposing the directive. Teljes cikk (Euronews.com)
