The European Parliament has agreed to fund the €1.5 billion European Defence Industry Programme (EDIP) only for products with at least 70% EU-produced components. This decision, supported by a majority of MEPs, aims to reduce dependence on external defense suppliers and strengthen Europe's defense capabilities. The initial proposal was for a 65% ratio, but MEPs pushed for a higher threshold despite some internal disagreements. The Parliament's position will be reviewed in the upcoming plenary session, and the Council must also finalize its stance before negotiations can proceed. Teljes cikk (Euronews.com)
