The mayor of Teuchitlán, José Murguía Santiago, was arrested for alleged ties to a cartel training site known as the Izaguirre Ranch, where human remains were discovered. Despite his denial of involvement, prosecutors claim he was aware of the ranch's existence. The site has been labeled as Mexico's 'ranch of horror' and has drawn significant media attention due to its association with the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). The investigation into the ranch has faced criticism for insufficient action from authorities, especially following the murders of two search group members.
