A new analysis reveals that nearly half of people with diabetes globally are unaware of their condition, despite rising diagnoses. The study, published in The Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology, indicates that 44.2% of individuals aged 15 or older with diabetes do not know they have it, with significant gaps in Central sub-Saharan Africa. Treatment access is also low, with 8.6% of diagnosed patients not receiving treatment and 58.4% struggling with blood sugar management. The researchers emphasize the need for improved detection and management of diabetes to prevent serious health complications.
