Vladimir Plahotniuc, a Moldovan oligarch, was sentenced to 19 years in prison for his role in the disappearance of $1 billion from the country's banking system. He fled Moldova in 2019 amid corruption charges and was extradited from Greece last year. The court also ordered the seizure of $60 million from his accounts.
