Russian filmmaker Pavel Talankin lost his Oscar at JFK airport after TSA confiscated it, claiming it could be used as a weapon. His co-director David Borenstein made a viral plea for help in finding it. Talankin, who now lives in exile in Europe, directed the Oscar-winning documentary 'Mr Nobody Against Putin', which critiques the Russian government's indoctrination of schoolchildren post-invasion of Ukraine. The film has faced bans in Russia, and Talankin expressed frustration over the treatment of his award.
