After the deadline, the municipality closed the premises. Birta accused the abbot of trying to create a scandal and exacerbate ethnic tensions between Romanians and Hungarians. He claimed that the eviction was not motivated by ethnic issues, as supporters of the abbot included both Romanians and Hungarians. Birta criticized the abbot's actions as dishonorable, particularly regarding a potential EU funding for a school renovation. The mayor denied obstructing religious practices and emphasized that the church could still operate. Szabó József from RMDSZ demanded transparency regarding the documents related to the case, expressing concerns about the lack of communication from the mayor's office. Birta refused to meet the abbot during a visit, stating he would only meet the general abbot alone.
