Japan has cancelled the cherry blossom festival at Arakurayama Sengen Park near Mount Fuji due to excessive tourist numbers and unruly behavior. The festival, which attracted around 200,000 visitors annually, faced issues like traffic congestion, littering, and trespassing. Despite the cancellation, the city expects a high influx of visitors during the cherry blossom season, prompting the introduction of safety measures. Mount Fuji has been struggling with overtourism, leading to various regulations and fees to manage visitor numbers.
