Alekszandar Vucsics, the Serbian president, postponed the start of the rapid train service on the Subotica-Novi Sad line from November 24 to December 8 due to the Novi Sad tragedy. He stated that complications have arisen in the project, making it unrealistic for the first rapid train to start before February or March. Vucsics emphasized the need for a functioning railway and mentioned ongoing inspections of all stations involved in the project. He also discussed his relationship with the Hungarian government, noting frequent communication with Orbán and Szijjártó. The tragedy, which resulted in 15 deaths, has led to protests demanding accountability and transparency regarding the construction contracts.
