Andrzej Poczobut, a prominent journalist in Belarus, has been released from jail in a prisoner swap with Poland, which also involved the release of 10 other prisoners. Poczobut, who was serving an eight-year sentence for politically motivated charges, was awarded the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought. The swap reflects improved relations between Belarus and the West, particularly during the Trump administration. Poczobut suffers from health issues and his release is seen as a significant event for human rights in Europe.
