Pope Francis, the first Latin American leader of the Roman Catholic Church, passed away on April 21. His memory will be honored with a neutralized start in Vatican City during the final stage of the 2025 Giro d'Italia on June 1. This marks the third consecutive year the Giro ends in Rome, with a symbolic tribute to Pope Francis by Rome's Mayor, Roberto Gualtieri. The race will feature eight loops of a 9.5 km circuit in Rome.
