Portugal, however, has no nuclear production and faces opposition from its Environment Minister, Maria da Graça Carvalho, who argues that nuclear energy is unsuitable for the country. Bruno Soares Gonçalves, a physicist, advocates for a mixed energy approach, including nuclear, to ensure energy sovereignty and decarbonization.
