A new study suggests that an at-home spit test may be more effective than the standard blood test in identifying prostate cancer risks in men. The saliva test could reduce false positives and unnecessary treatments, benefiting those at higher risk. The study involved 6,400 men in the UK and found that 40% of high-risk individuals diagnosed via the spit test had prostate cancer, compared to only 25% flagged by the standard PSA test. Future studies will further investigate the effectiveness of this new screening method.
