A new species of wild cat, the Tilcayo tiger cat, has been discovered in Bolivia, marking the first such discovery in over a century. The small feline, which resembles a leopard, is classified as vulnerable to extinction and has only been found in the mountainous Yang's region. Researchers hope to use the methods developed in this study to identify and protect more wild cat species globally.
