A 29-year-old man from Uzbekistan has been detained by Russia's security service for the assassination of Lt Gen Igor Kirillov, head of the Radiation, Chemical and Biological Protection Forces, in Moscow. The suspect was allegedly recruited by Ukrainian intelligence and claimed to have been promised a reward for the killing. Kirillov was accused of war crimes by Ukraine, which had charged him in absentia the day before his death.
