New eco-mooring systems are being tested near Athens to protect Posidonia seagrass meadows, crucial for Mediterranean marine ecosystems. Traditional anchors have caused significant damage to these meadows, prompting the installation of ecological moorings that allow boats to dock without harming the seabed. The initiative, coordinated by Greece’s Ministry of Shipping, aims to expand these systems along Greece's extensive coastline.
