Seif al-Islam Gadhafi, the son of Libya's late dictator Moammar Gadhafi, was killed by gunmen in Zintan. His death was confirmed by his lawyer and a representative from the UN-brokered political dialogue. Gadhafi's political team described the assassination as cowardly, stating that he clashed with the assailants who disabled CCTV. Seif was previously captured in Zintan and released in 2017. He was wanted for crimes against humanity and had announced his candidacy for presidential elections in 2021, which were never held due to ongoing disputes in Libya.
