A network of social media accounts, posing as Scottish and Irish users, has been found to be linked to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, spreading pro-Iranian propaganda and deceiving the public. These accounts initially shared picturesque landscapes and supported Scottish independence before pivoting to glorify Iranian military actions and criticize Western leaders. Researchers from Clemson University uncovered the deception, noting the use of AI-generated images and stolen identities. Europol has since shut down thousands of these accounts as part of a crackdown on the IRGC's online influence operations.
