The Spanish Agency of Medicines and Medical Devices (Aemps) has reported 111 cases of anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL) associated with breast implants by 2025. Since 2012, 146 suspected reports have been received. Madrid has the highest number of reports. BIA-ALCL is a rare non-Hodgkin lymphoma linked to immune system cells around the implant. Aemps emphasizes the importance of surveillance and early detection, noting that the disease's incidence is low compared to the number of women with implants. Research suggests a multifactorial origin, but no definitive causal relationship has been established.
