Spain has relocated its special forces from Iraq due to deteriorating security, making training operations unsafe. Approximately 300 military personnel are part of the international coalition against the Islamic State. The relocation follows a drone attack on a French base near Erbil that resulted in casualties. Spain has been present in Iraq since 2015 as part of Operation Inherent Resolve.
