Aleksandar Vučić, the Serbian president, announced that the United States may impose sanctions on the Serbian Oil Industry (NIS) due to its Russian majority ownership. He described these sanctions as one of the worst developments in recent years, as companies under such measures struggle to conduct business. He warned that Croatia might halt the use of the Adriatic oil pipeline, jeopardizing its oil supply and increasing tensions with Russia. Vučić suggested that Serbia might consider purchasing a stake from the Russian ownership, although he deemed this unlikely. The UK and EU are also expected to follow suit with sanctions starting January 1.
