A 15th-century Bible, illustrated with gold and Afghan lapis lazuli, has been unveiled in Rome for the Vatican’s Holy Year celebrations. This two-volume manuscript, considered a spectacular example of Renaissance illuminated manuscripts, was commissioned by Duke Borso D’Este and created by notable artists. It has a rich history, moving from Ferrara to Modena and later to various noble families before being donated to the Italian state. The Bible is described as the 'Mona Lisa of illuminated manuscripts' and will be on display in the Italian Senate until 16 January.
