The Taliban released British couple Peter and Barbie Reynolds after over seven months of detention in Afghanistan on undisclosed charges. The couple, who had lived in Afghanistan for 18 years, were released with the help of Qatar, which mediated negotiations. Their family had expressed concerns about their treatment. The Taliban claimed the couple violated Afghan law but did not specify the charges. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer welcomed their release, highlighting Qatar's role. The situation in Afghanistan remains precarious, with ongoing economic challenges and international hesitance to engage with the Taliban government.
