Denmark's digital minister, Caroline Stage Olsen, stated that major online platforms should easily implement age verification solutions to protect children from harmful content. Alongside EU Technology Commissioner Henna Virkkunen, she announced that five EU countries are developing a national age verification app. This app aims to help users prove they are over 18 when accessing restricted content. The EU is also working on integrating age verification into digital identification tools. The push for these measures comes amid increasing pressure on tech companies to combat child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Denmark plans to prioritize child protection during its EU presidency.
