The upcoming UN climate conference, COP29, will be held in Baku, Azerbaijan, focusing on climate finance and stronger national commitments. Following the recent COP28 outcomes, which included the launch of a loss and damage fund, COP29 aims to establish a new global climate finance goal amidst escalating climate crises. Key issues include the need for developed countries to fulfill past financial commitments and the urgency for developing nations to secure adequate funding for climate adaptation and mitigation. The conference will also address the need for countries to submit updated Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) by February 2025.
