A new study reveals that rising sea levels due to climate change may threaten significantly more people than previously thought, with many studies underestimating coastal water heights. Researchers found that about 90% of studies underestimated these heights by an average of 30 cm, particularly in the Global South and Southeast Asia. This discrepancy could lead to up to 132 million more people being at risk of flooding. The study emphasizes the importance of accurate measurements at the intersection of land and sea, highlighting the real-life impacts on coastal communities, especially in the Pacific.
