A new study from the Harvard–Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics reveals that existing ice reserves on the Moon are insufficient to support a city of one million people. While energy generation from solar power could be feasible, the lack of sustainable water resources poses a significant challenge for lunar colonization. The findings suggest that any future settlements may need to be much smaller, resembling villages rather than cities.
