Fathi Hussein, a beauty-salon owner from Mogadishu, Somalia, tragically died at sea after a failed attempt to reach Mayotte with migrant smugglers. Her family learned from survivors that she died from hunger after being stranded for 14 days in the Indian Ocean. Despite having a successful business, Fathi hid her plans from her family. The journey, which was supposed to take three hours, turned deadly, with 24 people perishing.
