Tilos, a small Greek island, has successfully eliminated its landfill by implementing a door-to-door waste collection system that promotes recycling and composting. With a recycling rate of nearly 90%, Tilos has become the world's first island to achieve Zero Waste Cities Certification. The project, which involved educating residents and businesses on proper waste sorting, is set to inspire similar initiatives on other small islands in Greece.
