Around 10,000 people were evacuated from Dresden after a World War II bomb was found during the demolition of the Carola Bridge. Authorities decided to defuse the bomb on-site and provided emergency accommodation for evacuees. The bomb, weighing 250 kilograms, may be linked to the 1945 bombing of the city, which resulted in significant casualties. The Carola Bridge was demolished due to damage from corrosion.
