Thousands gathered at Rome's Papal Basilica of Saint Mary Major to pay respects to Pope Francis, who died last Easter Monday. By midday, around 20,000 people had reached the basilica, with many attending Eucharistic celebrations. Pope Francis' tomb is simple, adorned only with a white rose and his Latin name. Access to St Peter's Square was blocked due to capacity, with around 200,000 present for a solemn mass led by Cardinal Pietro Parolin.
