A report by Germanwatch's Climate Risk Index reveals that three European countries—Italy, Greece, and Spain—are among the most affected by extreme weather, resulting in significant human and economic losses. Between 1993 and 2022, extreme weather events caused over 765,000 deaths and nearly $4.2 trillion in economic losses globally. Italy faced around 38,000 deaths and $60 billion in losses, Greece had 34,000 fatalities and over $7 billion in losses, while Spain recorded 27,000 deaths and $25 billion in losses. The report emphasizes the urgent need for high-income countries to enhance climate risk management and mitigation efforts. Teljes cikk (Euronews.com)
