Between 1993 and 2022, extreme weather events caused over 765,000 deaths and nearly $4.2 trillion in economic losses globally. Italy faced around 38,000 deaths and $60 billion in losses, Greece had 34,000 fatalities and over $7 billion in losses, while Spain recorded 27,000 deaths and $25 billion in losses.
