A study reveals that a molar with a jadeite inlay demonstrates advanced dental skills among the ancient Maya. The tooth, found in Guatemala, was modified while the patient was alive, indicating a sophisticated understanding of dental procedures. This discovery challenges previous notions about Maya dental practices, suggesting a broader range of interventions than previously recognized.
