Toyota is expanding its electric vehicle (EV) production in China through a partnership with the Shanghai government and plans to produce EV batteries in North Carolina. The company aims to meet the growing demand for EVs, despite facing criticism for lagging behind competitors like Tesla and BYD. The new facility in Shanghai will produce 100,000 vehicles annually and create around 1,000 jobs, while the North Carolina plant is expected to generate 5,000 jobs. Toyota's profits have surged, and it has revised its profit forecast upwards, aiming to contribute to China's carbon neutrality goals by 2060. Teljes cikk (Euronews.com)
