The Trump administration has threatened to cut federal funding to Columbia University unless it places its Middle Eastern, South Asian, and African Studies Department under academic receivership for five years. This ultimatum follows the withdrawal of $400 million in funding due to perceived antisemitism on campus. The university must also adopt a new definition of antisemitism and reform its admissions process. The situation escalates amid protests and arrests related to pro-Palestinian activism at the university.
