US President Donald Trump urged Turkey to stop buying oil from Russia to cut off Moscow's energy funding amid the Ukraine war. During a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the White House, Trump emphasized that halting these imports would be beneficial. The meeting did not yield commitments on lifting US sanctions or selling F-35 jets to Turkey, which has faced restrictions due to its acquisition of Russian defense systems. Trump expressed optimism about future cooperation, while Erdogan criticized the F-35 ban, asserting it undermines their strategic partnership.
