Four employees of the Turkish satirical magazine LeMan were arrested for publishing a cartoon that allegedly depicts the Prophet Muhammad, which is forbidden in Islam. The Turkish interior minister condemned the drawing, leading to protests in Istanbul where riot police were deployed. LeMan denied the cartoon was a caricature of Muhammad and defended its intentions, stating it aimed to portray the plight of oppressed Muslims. The backlash has drawn comparisons to the Charlie Hebdo attack in France.
