A pair of European satellites have successfully created the first artificial solar eclipse by flying in formation, allowing scientists to observe the sun's corona in unprecedented detail. Launched by the European Space Agency, the mission, named Proba-3, has generated 10 successful eclipses since March, with the longest lasting five hours.
