German Galushchenko, a former energy minister in Ukraine, has been detained while trying to leave the country amid a corruption scandal involving a $100 million embezzlement scheme. He was forced out of his position last year and is implicated in a massive anti-corruption investigation called Operation Midas. The scandal has increased pressure for elections in Ukraine, which have been suspended since the war began in 2022. Galushchenko's detention is part of a broader crackdown on corruption in Ukraine's energy sector.
