The UN peacekeeping mission in southern Lebanon (UNIFIL) will maintain its positions despite Israeli military demands for evacuation, following the killing of Hamas Leader Yahya Sinwar. UNIFIL's Andrea Tenenti stated that a unanimous decision was made by contributing countries to hold their positions, although security has deteriorated due to fighting between Hezbollah and Israeli forces. Recent incidents include Israeli strikes on UNIFIL positions and the suspension of most patrols. UNIFIL has faced criticism for its effectiveness, while the humanitarian situation in Lebanon worsens with significant internal displacement.
