Union Berlin appointed Marie-Louise Eta as the first female head coach in Europe's top five football leagues, facing sexist backlash on social media. The club defended her, stating they support her and condemned the sexist remarks. Eta, a long-time member of the coaching staff, will lead the team for the last five games of the season. The decision was praised by Berlin's mayor, despite a minor error in spelling her name.
