Uzbekistan is set to launch its first scientific satellite, a 6U CubeSat named 'Mirzo Ulugbek', in 2028 and train its first national astronaut. These initiatives aim to enhance technical capacity, secure independent data, and enter the global space sector, with a focus on economic opportunities through satellite data. Seven Uzbek students are currently training in Japan for satellite design, while the astronaut program is seen as a strategic priority for scientific development and international collaboration.
