A new analysis published in Nature Medicine shows that a plant-based diet, avoiding red meat and ultra-processed foods, is linked to better physical and mental health in old age. The study tracked 105,000 people in the US for up to 30 years, analyzing various diets, including the Mediterranean and DASH diets. The healthiest diets included fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and moderate animal-based foods. Less than 10% of people age healthily, and the study emphasizes quality of life over longevity.
