Sergei and Tatyana Voronkov left Russia for Ukraine after the annexation of Crimea in 2014. They settled in a small village but their peaceful life was disrupted by the Russian invasion in 2022. They became informants for Ukraine, leading to Sergei's detention and interrogation by Russian forces. After his release, they attempted to escape to Lithuania, facing numerous challenges, including the use of a fake passport. They are now living in a shelter for asylum seekers in Lithuania, having caused rifts in their family due to their actions.
