A woman crashed a stolen cargo boat into Venice's Rialto Bridge, damaging the historic structure and sending parcels into the Grand Canal. She attempted to steal packages from a delivery boat, stole cigarettes, and managed to start the engine before losing control. The woman was arrested for aggravated theft and had a previous ban from entering Venice. Restoration of the bridge will be challenging but possible.
