A 56-year-old woman, Donike Gocaj, died after falling into an open maintenance hole in Midtown Manhattan. She parked her SUV near Fifth Avenue and East 52nd Street and fell shortly after exiting the vehicle. Firefighters rescued her, but she was pronounced dead at a hospital. Con Edison reported that a truck dislodged the manhole cover shortly before the incident. An investigation is ongoing.
